Description: handmodelled; baked; cream slip on a buff fabric; one rear leg broken off; the animal is modelled in the round with pinched ears and sharply incised eyes; the head is pierced through horizontally presumably to take the reins, the litter-cover rises directly from the upper legs on each side and is flat at the back; incised herring-bone patterning overall represents the fabric of which it was made; a tiny figure with prominent pinched nose and no other features is set far back inside sitting astride the animal's back; the gender is not apparent.
